Photography

I was drawn to photography in high school, where I was introduced to the art of black-and-white photography with single-lens reflex cameras. Since then, capturing and preserving interesting moments and objects through photography became a passionate hobby.
Over the years, I have acquired and used a decent collection of photography equipment. Today, I mainly used a Fujifilm X-T4 paired with the XF 56mm f/1.2 R WR lens. This mirrorless camera and fast prime lens deliver exceptional performance, whether I'm shooting portraits, street scenes, or low-light environments.

My Fujifilm is packed with features that make it a joy to use:

  • 26.1MP X-Trans CMOS 4 Sensor – Delivers crisp, detailed images with Fujifilm’s renowned color science.
  • In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS) – A game-changer for handheld shooting, especially when paired with a fast prime like the 56mm f/1.2.
  • Fast Continuous Shooting (15fps) – Perfect for capturing fleeting moments.
  • 4K/60p Video – The X-T4’s video capabilities shine, and the 56mm lens adds beautiful depth to cinematic shots.
  • Classic Fujifilm Design – The tactile dials and retro styling make shooting a truly immersive experience.

My go-to lens: XF 56mm f/1.2 R WR

This lens is an absolute gem. It's sharp, fast, and perfect for portraits. The f/1.2 aperture creates dreamy bokeh, isolating subjects with creamy backgrounds, while the weather-resistant (WR) build means I can shoot confidently in different conditions. Whether I'm capturing intimate portraits or street photography with a cinematic feel, the 56mm focal length (roughly 85mm full-frame equivalent) gives me that perfect balance of compression and clarity.

How I Use This Setup

  • Portraits: The 56mm f/1.2 renders skin tones beautifully, and the wide aperture ensures stunning subject separation.
  • Low-Light Shooting: With IBIS and f/1.2, I can shoot handheld in dimly lit environments without sacrificing sharpness.
  • Street & Travel: While not ultra-wide, the 56mm forces me to be intentional with my compositions, resulting in more impactful shots.
Behavioural Economics

A field of study that combines insights from psychology and economics to understand how people actually make decisions, rather than how they would make decisions if they were perfectly rational (as assumed in traditional economics).

Systems Theory

an interdisciplinary framework for analysing how complex systems, whether biological, ecological, social, or mechanical function as interconnected wholes rather than just collections of individual parts. It emphasises relationships, feedback loops, and emergent properties that arise from interactions within a system.

Synthetic Biology

An interdisciplinary field that combines biology, engineering, computer science, and chemistry to design, construct, and redesign biological systems for useful purposes.

Netnography

A digital adaptation of ethnography that studies online communities (social media, forums, gaming platforms) to understand virtual cultures and behaviours.

International Development

Efforts aimed at improving economic, social, political, and environmental well-being in low- and middle-income countries. It involves policies, programs, and investments designed to reduce poverty, promote sustainable growth, and enhance quality of life globally.
